We have all heard the term “aerobics” and have images of brightly colored spandex and oversized perms dancing around in our memories. Something our mother’s did in dark and gloomy basements. But what is Aerobic Exercise?

Aerobic exercise is defined as being ‘exercise that improves or is intended to improve the efficiency of the body’s cardiovascular system in absorbing and transporting oxygen.’ Running, jogging, walking, swimming, dancing, and cycling are just some of the forms of exercise that constitute Aerobic exercise. Here you are getting your heart rate raised to a point where it is pumping blood around your body and causing you to sweat and breathe heavily.

We need aerobic exercise to help our heart continue to work efficiently and properly and to keep us at the peak of our health.
