Complex and restrictive diets don’t work in the long run. Follow these simple rules to keep healthy, feel full, and lose weight.
Eat small meals throughout the day. Every meal should include veggies and a palm-sized serving of lean protein (such as egg whites or low-fat Greek yogurt). Stick to thumb-sized servings of healthy unsaturated fats (such as nuts and avocados).
Before a workout, after a workout, and for one other meal, eat a fist-sized serving of complex carbs (such as oats, whole wheat rice, fruit). Stay away from simple carbs like soda and cookies.
Drink lots of water throughout the day. If you’re feeling hungry, you might actually be dehydrated. See how you feel after drinking a cup of water.
Have a ‘cheat’ meal once a week. Reward yourself and eat whatever you want (but do include protein!).
